PigVision Analytics

Get more out of your pig data!

PigVision Analytics

The pig farming industry is recording ever increasing amounts of data: weights, slaughter data, weather data, etc. Plus, recording has become so much easier: simply with a mobile phone in the sty. But what can you do with all that data? In other words, how do you make Big Data out of Pig Data?

AgroVision has an interactive tool for this: PigVision Analytics. This allows us to easily provide insight into specific reporting requirements, so that data entered in the sty can be seen directly in reports in the office, in smart reports specifically created to cover the topic that you want to focus on as a pig farmer.

The advantages of PigVision Analytics

  • Constantly updated reports

How PigVision Analytics works

Sensor data

Sensor data

With PigVision Analytics, there is the option to gain insight from sensors that measure humidity, ammonia, temperature, CO2, etc. We can also combine these data with other data (feed, water, weight development) that are registered in your sty.

“Measurements are nice, but it is clear that linking and clarifying the data is essential for further development. Otherwise, they are still just gadgets.” (Tim van Sprang, Veterinarian Slingeland Veterinarians)

Link with external scales/RFID reader

Mark Bennebroek is a hardware supplier for our customers in The Netherlands. He has developed a unit (MBDC Com Unit) that he can connect to any type of scale. This unit can also read an RFID at the same time.

As a pig farmer, you can set a number of characteristics that you want to record, such as the quality of piglets/sows/gilts/fattening pigs. These values are recorded in this unit.

With PigVision Analytics, these data are processed and turned into interactive reports, tailored to your specific needs.

Weight development

Weight development

This overview shows the weight development of your animals.

In addition to the weight per day, the growth of your animals is shown, and the distribution of the weight per animal.

This data can be combined with feed data from your feed machine.

Feed Monitor Sows

Feed Monitor Sows

In this overview, data from the feeding machine are combined with data from sows. It shows the feed intake in the farrowing pen per cycle.

There are filter options to show these per section or per pen over the desired period of time.

Overview of weights in and out of the farrowing pen

Overview of weights in and out of the farrowing pen

In the upper right corner of the overview you can see what percentage of pigs were too light, normal or too heavy coming into the pen. You will see that the green bar (normal weight coming into the farrowing pen) is selected and there is a filter so that only cycles 1 to 4 are selected. 42% of these sows have entered the farrowing pen with a normal weight, and you can see in the graph below on the right that 57% of these sows also leave the farrowing pen with a normal weight. The table on the left shows these sows and their results.

Slaughter analysis

Slaughter analysis

This overview shows the slaughter data of your animals in the selected period (last delivery, last 4 months). In the overview, the choice has been made for “all animals outside the selected concept” (graph left of the middle). This selection is carried out directly across all graphs. In this example 46.7% of the animals were not included in the concept. Of these, 16.09% were not in the concept of weight, while 22.08% were not in the concept of muscle.
